Sasha Louisa Coyen (born 2 March 1988) is a Ryanland singer and musician who won the second season of The X Factor in 2012. Her debut single, "Russian Roulette", will be released on 23 December 2012.

Since 2007, and prior to his participation in The X Factor, she was a vocalist in an R&B group, EVA, who performed at various clubs and bars around the country, however never managed to have an album or single chart.



Career[]

Early years[]

Sasha Coyen has been performing songs since she was 14, at that age she performed in various local talent competitions and uploaded videos of herself singing on Youtube from 2005 to 2006.

In 2007, she and two other friends formed a R&B group named EVA, who performed at various local nightclubs and bars, until branching out to other states and towns. They sold albums at their shows, but unfortunately none ever were able to chart in the albums chart. Coyen was 16 years old when she started the group, and the group disbanded in 2011.

2012: The X Factor[]

Coyen auditioned for The X Factor with "Read All About It" by Emeli Sande to large praise from both the audience and the judges. After advancing through bootcamp, Coyen performed Beyonce's "Best Thing I Never Had" at judges houses and Jessica Smith selected her as one of the 13 contestants in the "Girls" category, and one of judt four in the "Girls" category. On the first live show, Coyen performed "Diamonds" by Rihanna and proceeded to the next week after coming 6th out of 13 in the voting. The following week, Sasha finished 3rd out of 12 in the voting and for the two weeks after that she finished 2nd in the voting. After her performance of the Destiny's Child song, "Survivor" on the sixth week, she finished 1st in the voting with 26.0% of the vote. Following this, she finished 1st on every week and earned 33.2% of the vote on the semi-final. On December 17, 2012, Coyen proceeded to the second night of the live finals after finishing 1st out of the three finalists.

Sasha Coyen won The X Factor on December 19, 2012, with 59.8% of the vote, against James Murstead who received 40.2% of the vote.

After The X Factor[]

After the live finale, it was announced that Coyen's debut single, "Russian Roulette" would be released on Sunday, December 23, 2012 to make chart impact on December 30's chart. The song reached number one on the Ryanland singles chart on it's first week of release, selling 439,000 copies in it's first week. As of March 24, 2013, the single has sold over 1.8 million units and has been certified Platinum in Ryanland.
